Philosophy 2021 Realize that we are human beings sharing a common endeavour If we human beings can truly start to see ourselves the equals we are.
If we add the imagination like the one we used to create the institution of nation-states or work.
If we use what Donella Meadow called mental flexibility to update our boundaries to accommodate our goal where we all can flourish within the limits of the planet.
If we act according to a similar goal of caring for all life to flourish, adhere to same biosphere caring principles what we call they way we organize, whether it is an international organization, a state, municipality, civil society organization, company or community, as a long it is administrative appropriate to the task at hand, is of lesser concern.

In short if we believe and act as we share a common endavour (being the only known life in universe on spaceship earth we as nature really do) then we have might have a good chance as a human collective to survive a bit longer.

When imagining and acting towards a common goal it is important to bear in mind that our existence is cocreated. Our ideas transform our surroundings and the surroundings transforms us so therefore we should be mindful in what we create. Flourishing within limits require us to transform and create institutions that are aligned with our goals, based on our understanding of human beings and their physical environment.

A good way to start would be inspired by how nature with its ecosystems organizes itself in collaborative networks of networks sharing a common goal of life and build our human societies and institutions on what Jeremy Rifkin calls biosphere politics. Its worth quoting here:

“Geopolitics has always been based on the assumption that the environment is a giant battleground – a war of all against all - where we fight with one another to secure resources to ensure our individual survival. Biosphere, by contrast, is based on the idea that the Earth is like a living organism made of interdependent relationships and that we each survive by stewarding the larger communities of which we are a part”

Through history we have organized ourselves in different ways to solve certain problems striving for what we collectively give meaning to and find valuable. The idea of doing things together for a common goal resonates well with our biological disposition for cooperation and empathy, and is the reason we have survived for so long.

The new thing now is that no matter how we organize we need to do it with a goal that promotes a good life for all within the limits of the planet.
